I really love my mom but she can be a bit over-the-top.
She is constantly coming up with some new thing to be worried about and talking your ear off about it.
If you aren’t interested that won’t stop her from running her mouth. I try my best to be patient and understanding with her because I know that she means well. However, there are many days that I’m so exhausted by her abundant worrying I almost snap at her. Recently this is what happened when I dropped my daughter off for a quick daycare with Grandma. I needed to go run some errands and I knew my daughter would be safe staying with my mom. However, my mom didn’t feel the same way. Apparently, my mother has decided that air ductwork is a major viable threat to children’s safety. I’m not sure where she came up with this paranoia over indoor air handling devices because when I was growing up we had a central heating and cooling system like everyone else. There was no mention back of the end of certain demise surrounding the air vents, duct work, or large air handling equipment. Today, however, my mother has decided that children are bound to plummet directly into air ducts and meet certain demise. She saw an expose on 20/20 about a freak heating and cooling accident. Ever since, she has been determined that children cannot coexist with air conditioning systems or furnaces. When I dropped my daughter off with my mom for the day… I really didn’t expect that she’d spend the day locked outside in the backyard to “save” her from HVAC exposure.
