The other day I had about two HVAC calls from the HVAC business that I toil for… I have a business phone so when there’s an emergency HVAC maintenance call or someone who has made an appointment they’ll supply the call to an HVAC serviceman who hasn’t gained a call all day, then one of my HVAC serviceman coworkers called out sick and the other HVAC serviceman had a death in the family so I was left with getting all of the calls.
I didn’t mind since I would be receiving overtime pay, the first maintenance call was a piece of cake, all I had to do was do a few adjustments to the HVAC system and do some maintenance cleaning.
The owner was legitimately nice and correct my line of work… However the next house that I went to was legitimately challenging. The owner’s house was in the middle of nowhere plus he was legitimately stingy and he seemed legitimately up narrow with his money. He wanted me to come over and check out his HVAC system because it was making a loud rattling noise, and after checking out the HVAC system for about ten minutes I found the problem. It was the old condenser that had a grounded compressor. I basically told him that his HVAC system needed replacing since the compressor and the entire system was over thirty years old. The owner proceeded to tell me that he wanted another year out of his HVAC system. I told him, by all means of respect, his system would not last another year plus he would continue to hear the loud rattling noise. He grumbled and told me to leave.
