When my teenagers were absolutely young, about five and ten years old, it was while in Thanksgiving and my friend and I were on our way to my mother’s house. My partner was driving our station wagon and our teenagers were singing tunes, excited that it was Thanksgiving. All of a sudden my friend and I swerved off the road, went through a fence and stopped in the middle of the woods. My good friend and I were so surprised, my friend and I were frozen in our seats that it took us awhile until my friend and I decided to go outside of the car to see what had happened. Turns out that my friend and I had a flat tire, which sent our car to the side of the road. There was a sign that said gas station one mile down the road. My good friend and I went to the gas station and my friend and I couldn’t get a mechanic until tomorrow. Across the gas station was a cottage and my friend and I had to cancel with my mom and spend Thanksgiving in a seasoned cottage. My good friend and I got the keys to our room and it was truly warm in there. I went to the control device to try to turn the heat down however the control device was stuck! There was nothing my friend and I could do as the other rooms were not as nice as the one that my friend and I had. It turns out that the boiler was an open flame boiler. I’ve never dealt with this kind of boiler system although I could see the open flame as I crouched on the ground and looked through a tiny vent. My good friend and I made the most of it while in that Thanksgiving and opened up the windows to stay cool.
