I’m continuously calling on professional plumbers to replace corroded faucets, fix leaking water lines and remove clogs.
When my husband and I purchased our home, we were delighted by the sizable lawn, privacy and wide front porch. We were thrilled with the open floor plan, brand new appliances and plenty of closet space. The hardwood floors, numerous windows and fireplace were selling points. While we realized that the property included a water well, we never considered the possible implications. In the past, we’d always had city water. We had no idea of the problems caused by hard water. After living in the house for less than a year, we realized that the water is overrun with calcium, lime and rust. The water destroys everything it touches. The reason we purchased a home with all new appliances is because the water significantly shortens their service life. A water heater only lasts two to three years before the hard water corrodes the tank. The bathtubs, sinks and toilets are always stained. It’s pointless to use the dishwasher because the plates and glasses emerge so spotted and smudged that they need to be re-washed. The water discolors our linens and clothing. It clogs aerators and eats away the finish on the faucets. The minerals build up in the pipes and diminish both water pressure and drainage. I’m continuously calling on professional plumbers to replace corroded faucets, fix leaking water lines and remove clogs. I’ve looked into all different types of water filtration systems. I’ve listened to the recommendations of various plumbers and invested into water softeners. The water is so extremely heavy with minerals that the water softeners can’t handle the workload.
