I’ve only recently moved to a brand new city in a very different climate than what I was accustomed to, and I’m trying my best to adjust.
I’ve lived in the midwest for most of my life, and I have never had such a muggy climate around me, until now.
It seems like every day here it gets so humid that it will rain at some point, just in time for the clouds to dissipate and the pounding sun to make it 100 degrees again. I don’t know how anyone can plan their day or how to work around the constant rain. It’s been making homelife difficult, because I can’t even open our windows for fear of rain damage, so we have to rely entirely on our HVAC system for ventilation. The constant precipitation has already come into the windows a few times now, and I’m not interested in sprouting mold due around the damp window sills. Instead, I have the air conditioner running pretty much all day, every day. It’s the only way to keep the house from feeling hot and sticky inside, but I don’t love having constant exposure to AC. I feel as though the air conditioning dries out the indoor air to such an extreme degree that it affects me and my pets’ health, and I would much prefer to get some fresh air. It goes without saying that this much central cooling isn’t cheap, either. I hope that it stops raining soon, because I can’t afford to keep living under the reign of king AC.
