Thank god for basements; sheltering in the storm

There’s nothing worse than suddenly having a wrench thrown into your afternoon.

This happens when you pretty often because I live in a fairly unpredictable environment.

Working on the farm means that I have a lot of unexpected critter concerns to deal with. You never know when one of the horses is going to hurt themselves or fall ill. Suddenly, you have to call the vet and wait around all afternoon to resolve the medical emergency before you can get a single thing done. It does not help that my nice friend and I live in a locale with an unpredictable climate, as well. Not only do our outdoor air temperatures fluctuate wildly from hot to chilly throughout the afternoon… But you never know when you’re going to get a dramatic outburst of extreme weather. This is what happened to the other afternoon when a summer time storm turned into an emergency. It had been harshly hot and muggy all afternoon long so my nice friend and I were doing our best to finish our outdoor chores so my nice friend and I could get back to AC. That’s when my nice friend and I looked up and noticed the dark clouds rolling in. My associate and I really were encouraged to see the rain storm headed our direction because it would change the outdoor air quality and hopefully decrease the air temperature. My associate and I were really hot from toiling outside and ready for AC at that point. My associate and I cheerfully ran inside to shelter from the storm in AC for a few minutes. However, the storm got worse and my nice friend and I found ourselves hiding in the frosty basement. In that moment, I was so cheerful that my nice friend and I had a nice chilly basement with inherently cool indoor air. I knew our air conditioner couldn’t be relied upon in case of emergency, however the naturally cool basement could.
