Not that long ago I had some complications with my drainfield! It was smelly outside and there was laying water in the yard.
- I knew it was a septic concern.
I was easily distraught about the cost, then anytime something is wrong with septic or drainage due to the septic, that is a hefty bill, however so I had a septic tank repair supplier come over and they looked at the septic, then nope, that device was fine. I didn’t need to have it pumped. I needed to update my drainfield. It was leaking, out of date, and had to be fully accessed. I then got a price quote for six thousand dollars. I called around all the local plumbing businesses. A drainfield redo is around six grand no matter what. No way. I then got my sister who has a mini tractor, however she dug up my backyard so I could access the drainfield. I then detached all the old, flimsy piping and redid it with actual plastic. I watched a lot of youtube videos about drain field repairs and linking it right to the septic. I only had one issue where I realized the water wasn’t going to drain regularly into one stream of my piping. So I had to reconfigure and try again. It took me about a month even though I got it done, then my sister poured dirt and packed it down. I now have a fully functional septic system and drainage. It cost me around two grand in parts and it was a lot of work. I consider it a task well done though.
