The HVAC unit was cycling on and off due to a clogged air filter

I know that there are many things that go through cycles.

This includes life cycles of many animals and humans.

I understand that this is a natural thing. The one thing I did not realize it was natural with was an HVAC system. I notice that I will turn the thermostat on to heat the home and soon later I notice once again that it is turned off. Every time I have to go and turn on the furnace for my house to reheat. It does not do it on its own. I am not even sure that my house even reaches my desired temperature because it is never on for very long after that. I thought this was a normal thing. That was until my friend came over and told me that it was not right that it was doing that. I couldn’t believe it. I called my HVAC technician that next day. He told me that it was certainly not normal for the system to do that. He said he would be over the next day when he had an opening in his schedule to look at it. He indicated that it was happening because of a clogged air filter. The clogged air filter was causing the system to realize it could not push the air through the filter. It is called cycling. The system would turn on and then off again. it could be related to some different reasons why it would do this. One of the big reasons it would do this is because of a clogged air filter.
