My parents used to fight over the same thing every day.
I used to get so annoyed as a child listening to them bicker over the temperature settings in our small country home. My mother was always too cold. She would be dressed in thick layers during the spring months. She was always sneaking around, turning the thermostat up when my dad wasn’t looking. Inevitably, my dad would notice because he is always too hot. He’s always walking around in shorts, even when it’s snowing outside. The sound of their arguments was a constant sound of my childhood. When I entered adulthood, this changed. My dad decided that it was time for a major heating and cooling update, and he was determined to find a solution for their constant arguments. He hired a wonderful HVAC representative, who patiently walked him through the process step by step. He explained all the options and helped my dad choose the right one. They ultimately decided to go with zone heating because this offered a solution to their lifelong problem. Zone heating allows them to adjust the temperature of each individual room rather than the temperature of the entire house. My dad is able to keep his office at a cool temperature, while my mom keeps the den nice and toasty. My mom was so happy with my dad’s choice. She was raving about it to all of her friends and tried convincing them to make the same investment. Now, my parents never argue about the house’s temperature any more! The house is filled with peace and quiet.
