Daughter tells me she can’t sleep without AC unit

The AC unit is over ten years old and it has rarely been inspected by a professional HVAC technician

I try my best to be a good parent, but it isn’t easy. These days there are so many things to watch out for when you’re raising a young person. If it’s not their cellphones, it’s the state of the economy or our civil unrest. It just seems like there’s trouble at every turn, and it’s more difficult than ever to keep your kids safe. With the advent of cell phones in text messaging it’s almost impossible to keep an eye on your kids all the time. I never know what my children are planning behind my back. Unfortunately, this has transformed into my son and daughter both trying to escape from their rooms at night. A few weeks ago I honestly fell for my daughter charades when she tried to tell me that her central air conditioning connection wasn’t creating the most comfortable conditions in her bedroom. She said it seems like there was no cool air flowing through the air vent that serviced her room in particular. She wondered if it was possible to turn down the central air conditioning settings to make it a bit colder at night so she could sleep. I actually felt bad that she wasn’t cool enough to fall asleep with our low quality indoor air. I know that the central cooling system hasn’t been working in the best condition. The AC unit is over ten years old and it has rarely been inspected by a professional HVAC technician. As a result, I compromised and turned down the AC so my daughter wasn’t so sleepless and crabby. Now I realize, she only asked me to turn down the AC system so she had more sound coverage for sneaking out of her window last night.
